Kyliska’s head was pounding yet again. Another night of fighting the
Alliance and another night of heavy drinking afterwards. That Hauk was a
bad influence on her! She never used to drink this much! She sighed as
she tried to stop the pounding in her head. She performed a small
healing spell and that seemed to help for the most part. Kyliska didn’t
know what was wrong with her. She was starting to feel new and different
emotions that she hadn’t felt in quite some time. It was disturbing her
because these emotions made her feel vulnerable, and she hated that
with a passion.
Maybe she should stop drinking so much, it lowered her inhibitions too
much and it brought all the emotions she was trying to hide to the
surface. She says things she doesn’t mean to say, and acts in ways she
knows she shouldn’t. Kyliska should be thinking of more important things
such as her Mother’s necklace and why the Alliance had wanted it so
badly. Her mind had strayed and she had to set back on track.
Unconsciously Kyliska felt for the familiar necklace that she always
wore around her neck. With sudden horror she realized that it was gone!
She started to hyperventilate. She quickly searched her room for it. It
must have fallen off she thought to herself.
Kyliska could not breathe. She had to find the necklace. She was having
such a hard time breathing that she fell to the floor gasping for
breath. She tried to calm herself down and take deep breaths so she
could try to think more clearly. Then a thought ran through her mind.
What if the Alliance had stolen her necklace during their battles over
the past few days? Kyliska had spent most of the days sleeping because
of her drinking, and then she would go into battle at night again. She
didn’t even remember the last time that she had felt for the necklace!
This was almost too much to bear.
She didn’t want her mother’s death to be in vain. She needed to find it.
She briefly wondered if it was the gnome mage Jazari that had stolen it
from her. She had fought him in South Shore earlier this evening and he
was claiming to want peace and begged her and her friends to leave the
town. Kyliska wasn’t sure if she should at first but then decided to
retreat. Could the gnome have stolen her necklace during that time? One
of the many times that she was chasing him trying to kill him? She shook
her head. The headache had suddenly come back, and with more force.
Kyliska started to cry. She didn’t know what else to do. It was like her
heart was breaking all over again. Like her mother was dying again in
front of her. This can’t be happening. Not again. A specific memory came
back to Kyliska then.
She was with her mother again. Kyliska smiled slightly and remembered
how beautiful her mother was. She had inherited her long blonde hair
from her. Her mother had shown Kyliska her necklace.
“Kyli, dear. This necklace is very special.” She said. “I never take it
off. One day I will give this to you and it will be your burden to
bear.”
“I do not understand Mother.” Kyliska started. “What is so special about a necklace and why is it a burden?”
“Oh Kyli, I cannot tell you that right now.” She insisted. “You just
have to trust me. No one can have this except the Sin’Dorei.” Then the
necklace made some sort of strange sound. Her mother quickly got up and
hurried away. Kyliska yelled for her mother but she kept going. Kyliska
followed her mother but suddenly she turned around and was thrown back.
Kyliska looked at her mother in horror. The necklace was glowing and it
was the necklace that had thrown her away from her mother. Kyliska was
confused but got up and walked as far away from her mother as she could.
Kyliska was back in the present day. She had almost forgotten about that
time. She was still confused as to why the necklace did that to her.
Why was she allowed to wear the necklace after her mother had died then?
Was it a family heirloom that she was allowed to wear but only after
her mother had died? Still so many questions left unanswered, and now to
top it all off the necklace was missing!
Kyliska didn’t even know where to start looking. She knew she should ask
her friends for help in searching for it, but she felt so foolish to
have lost it in the first place. She reminded herself that she might not
have lost it and that it could have been stolen by the Alliance. It was
them after all that had killed her mother and tried to take it. That
would make the most logical sense that they did take it. Kyliska decided
she was going to have a drink or two to get rid of the nasty headache
and then she would figure out how to find the necklace. Maybe she would
run into Hauk there and he could help her come up with a plan. She also
knew that Biara had hung out in the bar the night before so she might be
there as well.
